Life is a happiness to be lived, yet sadly so many people suffer in living it.
Whatever our social status, whatever the money we possess, whatever the power we hold, we are above all a man or a woman, no more, no less. The misery that surrounds us, the misfortune of some for the benefit of others, the injustice that breaks us, and this indifference that kills us. Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr, Mother Teresa, Nelson Mandela all worked to mend this broken world. We all carry within us this capacity to love unconditionally. We all carry within us this choice: to take the hand of one and place it in the hand of another. A world of peace, a world of justice, a world where the priority of some becomes the necessity of others.
Martin Luther King Jr. had a dream, and Charles Trenet had written it so well: “once you have dreamed your life, you must live your dream”.
I have a dream too
I dream that one day a single nation shall govern us, a nation where compassion is the only law,
I dream that all of us, without exception, shall unite in one same direction, the one where peace is our faith,
I dream that vengeance shall lay down its weapons,
I dream of a world free of all judgement,
I dream that indifference shall become different,
I dream that one day an adult may take a child by the hand and tell them a beautiful story that will be their own,
I dream of a world where wars belong to a distant memory of humanity,
I dream that one day injustice shall astonish us, only to fall into nothingness,
I dream that a smile shall become our pledge of kinship,
I dream that every tear shed shall be one of a shared happiness,
I dream that the suffering of some shall call upon the kindness of others,
I dream that selfishness shall surrender to altruism,
I dream that you and I may one day communicate without saying a word,
I dream of a dream that shall become your own,
I close my eyes and listen to the life that brings us together, to make us dream together at last.
